On July 25, Zee Lifestyle and Samsung threw an exclusive get-together at 856 G Gallery to celebrate the homecoming of the iconic fashion designer Reynaldo F. Santos. After living and working in his own atelier in New York for more than 20 years, Rey has returned to his hometown and enjoys a welcoming attendance from the city’s fashion crowd.
Guests admired Rey’s various sketches and designs that were on display and for sale, a retrospective of the designer’s work throughout the years, while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Later on, models walked the festive Schiaparelli-pink runway in a ten-piece collection that Rey created especially for the occasion. The pieces highlighted the guest of honor’s flair for dramatic dressing and details, and were beautifully set against the New York-inspired video presentation playing on the Samsung HDTVs set-up throughout the gallery.
The Samsung HDTVs were also the medium in playing a special look of Rey’s career over the years, including his editorials in magazines that showcased Cebuano fashion at the time. Before the show, guests were invited to check out the TV’s innovative features—such as taking photos of themselves on its front camera and testing out the smart interaction’s gesture control.
The night was also the venue of launching the Zee Lifestyle app on Google Play, allowing Android users to download the latest issues of the magazine on their mobile devices. To celebrate the milestone, the Zee Lifestyle July 2013 Men’s Issue can be downloaded for free, and cover star Blake Go was in attendance to become one of the first users to have the magazine on their phone.
With overflowing wine and delicious food which was catered by David’s Catering in a seemingly artistic way, guests spent the rest of the night mingling and giving the man of the hour Rey Santos their congratulations. At the end of the night, guests took home special gifts from Samsung: tokens from renowned Filipino sculptor Impy Pilapil.
