With abstract expressionist works featured in various exhibits here and abroad, Sio Montera finally showcased his first solo exhibit at the Qube Gallery on June 18.
Dubbed as One Man Sio: A Premier Collection, highlighted the different techniques he has learned from over a decade of doing abstract expressionism. “It was called One Man Sio because it was a showcase and celebration of my individuality. It was like a recap,” he says.
The University of the Philippines professor had shown various pieces featuring the biggest piece in the collection, My Sun Sets Only To Rise Again, which he considers his most prized creation. Inspired by poet Robert Browning’s quote, the work is Sio’s way of commemorating the tragedy that struck his hometown in Leyte late last year.
Sio has curated a number of exhibits at Qube, but One Man Sio is his first solo exhibit in the gallery.
