The Philippines is a hodgepodge of global-class talent, and it’s about time the entire world knows it.
Fashion Philippines, an initiative of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) arm, brought this goal one step closer to fruition with its recent participation in the international trade fair Maison & Objet Paris.
Held this month at the Parc des Exposition in Villepinte, Maison & Objet welcomed ten of the best Filipino fashion accessory designers, which included Ann Ong, Beatriz, Crystal Seas, Floreia, Kitsilver Jewelry, Larone Crafts, Megabijoux Inc., Michelline Syjuco, ZAI Design Hive, and Cebu’s very own Mia Arcenas.
The Mia Arcenas brand, which caters to the modern-day woman, is all about one-of-a-kind resort wear and fashion accessories that are designed and handmade in the Philippines. It hopes to emphasize Filipino craftsmanship and ingenuity using precious silks and local materials to create high valued products that best represent the country. Mia’s Spring/Summer 2017 collection of evening clutches made of mother-of-pearl and gold stunned the crowd.
“It was a great way to explore the European market and meet other buyers from around the globe,” Mia tells Zee Lifestyle. “It was truly an honor to be chosen by CITEM to be a part of the 10 brand/companies to showcase our latest collections in the trade exhibition.”
