With the abundance of talent in the city, we find more reasons to be proud of our very own. Discover the best homegrown artists for your sabbatical accompaniment and discover how Cebu’s music scene is up to par with the rest of the world.
Following its formation in 2009, the up-and-coming homegrown band Womb has successfully released its 10-track debut album Anesthesiac. Introduced by a unique mix of trip-hop and electronica genres, Anesthesiac has already gained a following after it ranked #11 in the local music blog Vandals On The Wall’s Top 25 Filipino Albums of 2013. The band is composed of Chai Fonacier on the vocals, Fender Figuera on beats and drones and Anthony Uy on synths and guitar.
Known for their sound manipulation using both software and hardware, their ethereal beats perfectly harmonize with Chai’s powerful and soulful vocals. Despite being a new addition to Cebu’s local music scene, tracks like Aftertaste and 10 Second Forever make a perfect addition to any car or commute playlist. Their singles Good and I Miss You recall a serene laid-back day with its down-tempo mood.
